JimFisher Posted December 27, 2014 Posted December 27, 2014 (edited) I'm applying to the SMU general M.Ed program. I'm a Dallas resident, and this program in particular has a good rep in the area. I'm worried I may not get in due to my GPA. Profile/ GPA: 2.78 (B.S. in Economics) One of my parents had cancer, and I was responsible for getting them to appointments. This caused me to miss tests that I was not allowed to make up, so my GPA suffered. Experience: - Student financial advisor -MLB team business operations intern - Suburban school district instructional assistant (4th-5th grade) I designed an activity that was featured at a school board meeting. -YMCA of Dallas Teen Mentor (assisted high school seniors with the college admissions process, also located $15K in grant money for low-income students) - Started my own business - Co-founded a $10K hedge fund, with all returns going towards urban high school students in the form of a scholarship. GRE is not required. Edited December 27, 2014 by JimFisher
JimFisher Posted December 29, 2014 Author Posted December 29, 2014 Thanks for the response. I wanted to integrate the two if possible. A lot of high schools here are creating more business education classes, and my goal is to teach that. I work in business, but my passion is education,
