Mentioning Multiple Interests

It's too late for most of my apps, but I'm curious to hear your opinions regardless. 

 

I've done research in two very different research areas under bioengineering and have significant interest in both areas. Have I shot myself in the foot on apps by placing some emphasis on research in both these areas (i.e. mentioning professors in both specializations and the possibility of rotations)? Would I have been better off keeping my apps focused on just one area?
