technotronic Posted January 2, 2015 Posted January 2, 2015 Anyone have any insight into how much info to include with each portfolio image? Just a material description, or is it appropriate to get into the conceptual elements of the work? Many thanks!
Truths Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 Depends on the kind of work. If it's straightforward painting or sculpture, then a material description should do. If there's a time/space component or something unusual then you can give more of a description e.g. site specific installation, performance pieces not documented on video, details that can't be photographed, etc. Basically, give descriptions if the work really needs it to be understood . Otherwise, it should speak for itself.
beriredux Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 What Truths said. Slide descriptions are like wall tags in an exhibition.
technotronic Posted January 3, 2015 Author Posted January 3, 2015 Thanks for the replies, Truths, and Beriredux. Appreciate the insight.
