eitheror Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 I've (very stupidly) managed to misspell the name of a writer in some of the SOPs I've submitted. Mailing the schools and asking them to consider accepting a fresh SOP from me is out of the question as the deadlines are long gone. Also, the writer in question isn't...ummm...very well known. So, I'm (really) hoping those reading my SOP will not notice. How much of a difference do you guys think it's going to make to my application?
ashiepoo72 Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 Was it a minor spelling mistake, or more like some of the ballots that went out in the 2008 election that spelled "Barack Osama" instead of "Barack Obama?" In all seriousness, it's probably no big deal. People have misspelled POI names and gotten in. If your application is strong, it's unlikely a spelling mistake will get you rejected.
FinallyAccepted Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 They probably won't notice it like you are right now, being someone who IS familiar with that person's name. I wouldn't sweat it, but I wouldn't draw attention to it either.
