IMG interested in Biomedical Engineering

I am currently doing my Final year in Medicine in India. I am planning on doing post graduation in BME as medical technology has always fascinated me. As I was looking into the course schedule of some colleges I realised it had a lot of emphasis on engineering, and I understand why. I want to know if a medical graduate who has very little understanding about engineering concepts be able to perform well in BME. And is it a good option to pursue after medical graduation? I did calculus, basic chemistry and physics in school.
