CantHardlyWait Posted January 16, 2015 Posted January 16, 2015 Hello, Hi, I have been following a couple of threads here but couldn't find one about Fulbright scholarships for international students in the U.S. Anyone else here an International Fulbright Scholar? I was awarded a Fulbright scholarship and I am currently in the placement process. What has been your experience thus far?
Poustevnik Posted January 16, 2015 Posted January 16, 2015 Hi there! I'm applying from the UK. How about you?
CantHardlyWait Posted January 17, 2015 Author Posted January 17, 2015 Hi there! I'm applying from the UK. How about you? From Latin america, I am currently in the process of applying to the schools. Have you finished your applications already? I don't know if the procedure is the same in the UK, but we work with a placement advisor from an agency (LASPAU) and apply to 5 universities. My only concern is what happens after we get the decisions from those universities. Does the Fulbright through the placement agency has the final word on which university to choose?
Poustevnik Posted January 17, 2015 Posted January 17, 2015 I couldn't comment on that, as the UK system is very different. Here you just complete the application form on your own, and wait to see if you get an interview. It is also completely separate from your university applications, which means (in rare instances) it is possible to get a Fulbright scholarship without winning a university place (at which point you then lose your fulbright funding as well).
GameTheory Posted January 28, 2015 Posted January 28, 2015 I'm currently studying in the US as a foreign Fulbright scholar - if anyone has any questions, feel free to message me, though I assume the deadline is sometime this month.
Crazy Thunder Posted January 31, 2015 Posted January 31, 2015 Hey, there! I'm a Fulbright semi-finalist from Russia. My application is sent to 4 universities. But the Fulbright office is working on it, I have no information about chosen schools and details concerning my chances with each university. Whis is awful and stressful. I wish I could have more knowledge.

As for Russia, the Fulbright has the final decision. Actually, they don't even give applicants a choice. They just choose what is best both for the candidate and the programme.
nanda_astrini Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 Hi there! I'm from Indonesia and also waiting for news regarding my application. I'm applying for a masters degree. I think we'll be hearing from universities starting mid February. I've got a friend who was admitted to the University of Houston a few days ago. Mind sharing which universities you guys are applying for?
kerry1234 Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 Hi, Can anyone provide a link for me to this scholarship? I just got in Ph.D. in aerospace engineering at UC Davis, and I wanted to apply this! Thanks!

xapon Posted March 30, 2015 Posted March 30, 2015 I'm too waiting for the results regarding my application. I'm this year's finalist from Kazakhstan and I don't have any news regarding my application since I did the toefl and gre exams in October, 2014. I've contacted a US embassy a couple of times since then, but all they had to say was 'wait'; seems like they don't have any news themselves. I don't even know whether any university has accepted me or not, and which universities did they choose for me. So it would be great to know if any of other candidates from other countries received their results already, and what is the approximate date when foreign applicants usually get it.
