kwaddy Posted January 18, 2015 Posted January 18, 2015 Did anyone receive an invitation to apply to Princeton? I was wondering how common these letters are.
Guest Posted January 18, 2015 Posted January 18, 2015 (edited) I got on of those for their undergrad program years ago if that helps. Not for graduate school though. Quite weird. Edited January 18, 2015 by Guest
eeee1923 Posted January 18, 2015 Posted January 18, 2015 They can usually get your info if you agreed for ETS to release your contact info when you took the GRE. So it's common if you specify your intended field of study and scored within a range that Princeton is looking for. If the due date hasn't passed and you find the program to be a good fit, I say go for it - it can't hurt.
birchleaf Posted January 19, 2015 Posted January 19, 2015 I got the same thing but for UChicago! I figured I might as well go for it. Still waiting to hear back but hey, definitely worth the effort!
geographyrocks Posted January 19, 2015 Posted January 19, 2015 The GRE and certain grants "give" your information to schools. I'm currently in a PhD program, but I still keep getting emails from Notre Dame about their Masters programs.
drownsoda Posted January 19, 2015 Posted January 19, 2015 Yeah, it's the GRE. I think, if I recall correctly, that you are able to accept or decline for your scores/information to be made public to universities. I selected the "yes" option and have gotten lots of emails as well; a couple from the University of Chicago, Boston U, and multiple ones from Claremont.
