So... one more week to go, right?

Hope everyone will hear some good news by then.

Not to feed the insanity but can other people try logging in and seeing if they see their user id or email?

I can log in using either my user id or email. After logging in, it shows my email instead of my user id.

My login has also been changed to my email-id. Does it mean I'm in?! lol just kidding. Any change in the status makes me jumpy.

I see email as well. I don't recall well, but I think it has always been email?

Mine too. I doubt it means anything, but...why WOULD it change right after their graduate roundup? We're computer science folks, let's figure this out. Seems like they made their application totally custom, but is there a reason that the primary identification would change from one's username to one's email?

So it seems like everybody's application was changed to show email...

FALSE ALARM :)

Everyone is in! We're all going to MIT!

I'm kind of relieved the Seahawks lost. I was worried if we won they'd use it against me.

I was wondering the same. Would appreciate if the interviewees posted the experience of the call.

Someone mentioned an interview via phone today. Is this legit?

Probably. I've said this before, but MIT as a whole doesn't interview. However, it seems certain POIs may choose to interview certain candidates at their discretion. I have no idea whether this is factored into the admissions decision. I didn't ask anything about my decision. I do a lot of job interviews and when people ask me if I think they'll get a job I usually have to give some canned response about contacting the recruiter. I didn't want to force that discomfort on a POI. My chat was after the apparent graduate round-up, but the initial email said that decisions had not been made yet.

If this helps, why not:

  • POI listed in my application contacted me on Thursday
  • In the email, he listed two very specific questions about my application
  • We agreed on a time (Saturday morning)
  • First question was about a specific project I did at work (I've been in industry for 2 1/2 years since graduating college)
  • He asked a lot of interesting theoretical follow-up questions (some of which were difficult to answer) and dug deep into details
  • He also asked about my research interests, and we chatted a bit about some of what I'd done within those fields
  • He told me about some cool research that's going on that's related to my interests
  • He asked if I had any questions for him
  • After, I realized I'd made a mistake in a follow-up, so I emailed him with what I'd thought about and he responded kindly

I can go into more detail if you want but it's going to be really specific to what I did, and probably not helpful to anyone else.

Thanks for the info. Any kind of communication, whether from the POI or the department, would feel good at this point. You would know if someone has actually gone through your application, right :) ?

Actually, I am the guy who reported the latest interview. The process was similar to thissiteispoison's. There was no tough question, only my research and the projects going on in the POI's group. The POI did not tell me the result. I hope I can get in. God bless me.

So the results probably come out by this week right?

If a lot of admits reported and I did not get anything, that probably a rejection.

Already rejected by Berkeley, hope I can get into MIT

According to MIT website, they start sending out decision email by mid February. (Stanford also) I am getting very nervous now...

Last year, the MIT notifications were sent on 5th & 6th Feb 2014 (5 days after graduate roundup). So, this year's results may be out within a day or two, provided they follow the same trend.

^ If you look at the past few years, we can safely say that their initial wave will be out sometime between tomorrow and this Friday.

I would bet on this Thursday and Friday.

Hope good news for all of us!!

@superdominator: i think you need to be a bit more specific. Berkeley is probably better in DB, distributed systems. However OS research is probably more active in MIT
