artselfie Posted January 24, 2015 Posted January 24, 2015 Hi everyone, I'm graduating from my public ivy this spring, and looking at going into museum studies/ art history and curation. The schools I'm applying/ have applied to are: Parsons The New School Christie's Education New York University (NYU) School of Visual Arts (SVA) Bard CCNY Any idea of what GRE scores would be v good for these grad schools? I just got back from my GRE and I know I have 161 Verbal and 155 Quantitative (waiting on the writing portion) but this was just my practice exam without any studying. I was planning on studying a bit and taking it again in three weeks. Can someone please tell me what GRE scores are considered very good for a museum studies/ art history/ curatorial studies/ curation/ design history program? Or at least what GRE scores the schools I'm applying to might be into? Thank you so much!~
grad_wannabe Posted January 25, 2015 Posted January 25, 2015 I would try to bring up the verbal a bit, up to at least 90th percentile (163+). But for those fields, your Statement of Purpose and writing sample will be far more influential.
RolandBlack1 Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 Your GRE scores are fine. Obviously the higher the better....but at a verbal of 161 schools know you are smart....and with an art history or museum studies program there is always a writing submission section on the application. So, if your writing submission and personal statement are good, you'll be fine.
