cicada2014 Posted February 4, 2015 Posted February 4, 2015 I just heard back from CMU and found out that I was accepted into both programs that I applied to (Language Technologies Institute and Machine Learning). I had initially thought that you are accepted only into one of the programs that you picked. I am genuinely interested in both areas, and in fact both departments have faculty that work in both areas. Has anyone had a similar experience?
thissiteispoison Posted February 4, 2015 Posted February 4, 2015 Hah, I wish. I haven't heard anything from them yet, so it's looking pretty bad for me. I'm sure that's a question you can ask them now that you're in, though.
kmarino3 Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 Hey. I also got into two programs at CMU. I've talked to someone in the same situation. Basically it's like deciding between two different schools. One cool part is that your advisor can be anyone in SCS, so the choice isn't as hard as it seems. It comes down to which department you feel more at home with, I think.
