stanford "short list"?

Hey all,

 

I applied to a complit PhD at Stanford and was asked to come visit because I'm on the "short list." The email doesn't say this is a formal interview. I'm wondering if anyone knows how many of the people on the short list are ultimately admitted?

I don't know anything about Standord's Comp Lit program, but it doesn't sound like a formal interview. I would go ahead and ask (Palumbo-Liu's there, right?) how many other people were invited to the event. Of the schools that I've seen that invited people to an interview (UC, Emory, Columbia), somewhere from about half (for a smaller program, like Emory) to about three-fifths (for a larger program, like UC) who were invited were admitted. In any case, you have great chances. You were invited because they already like you.

Hey, sorry to pry, but any chance you've had any more news from Stanford? I've had nothing but radio silence from them but as there has been no acceptances or rejections from them yet on the board the darn bastards keep tugging at my hopestrings. It would be wonderful if I could put this baby to bed, even if it's bad news.

Hey meowmeow, I applied Stanford as well. Does Stanford invite all short listed students to the visit? Including internationals?
