So I've been waitlisted at my top choice for a Ph.D. program (Penn). I'm not sure what this means or what my chances are. The waitlist email only said that my application "is still being considered" and is dependent on how the accepted class fills up. I know that there are multiple people on the waitlist, and I wonder what the chances are that I will be accepted. I've been offered admission at University of Delaware already, and nominated for a fellowship, but Penn was my top choice. Has anyone been waitlisted at Penn? Or knows anything about how this process works? I had emailed the graduate contact, but she said she couldn't give any information as to where I was on the waitlist, etc. I know at less competitive schools, being on a waitlist means that you're likely to be accepted, but I don't know if it would be the same at an Ivy.

Thanks guys!

Is there any way to find out where you are on the wait list? Could you call? If you're at the top, like 1 or 2, there's definitely hope you'll get in. Further down, your chances dwindle...
