I've been accepted to four programs, but only one of them has given me financial aid info. How long does it usually take for schools to tell you about funding? It would really help me to narrow the field if I knew what I was getting from each school.

Exact situation as me man! New acceptance don't even make me that happy anymore, I really need the aid!

Same. The school I was most recently accepted to doesn't even list all of the necessary forms you have to submit for graduate financial aid other than the FAFSA.

Does anyone know if it is common for schools to only look at your FAFSA when determining how much aid to award? Will this affect my competitiveness for scholarships/fellowships/etc?

These all need to be addressed by the individual school, since there are no hard-fast rules here except that they must honor what is offered in writing.

By all means, call the admissions counselors or ask your POIs if they are receptive. They should be used to answering these questions. If that's too intimidating, try friendly grad students.

If you've gotten this far, they do like you, and remember - the school has to anticipate competing against other funding offers. Don't remind them of this, but it is in their best interest to make this clear if they are a legit program.

I'm in the same boat. Three admissions, only one of them has given me any funding info. The others say they are "coming soon" or "as soon as academic budgets are finalized."
