gurumaster8899 Posted August 2, 2009 Posted August 2, 2009 Is it possible to work on your Phd thesis while working in industry....like working in an R&D lab while working for you thesis?
socialcomm Posted August 2, 2009 Posted August 2, 2009 I believe, in most cases, if you're getting funding from a school, they won't allow you to work. So it may depend on your situation, I know some people are ABD and working in their industry of choice, but at that point they aren't getting a stipend from their school. The answer may change from school to school.
aginath Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 The answer depends on the program (requirements) and your commitments/responsibilities. I've had two friends recently work full time and attend school part time to get their PhD. Yeah, it took longer, but they did it. I believe both were able to use their full time job to collect data for their dissertation.
