Bookwormz Posted February 25, 2015 Posted February 25, 2015 I only applied to 5 MA programs because things were getting expensive. I now think that was a big mistake. I haven't heard from anyone! I am pretty certain UConn and PSU are implied rejections. However, I do not know what to think about Temple, Syracuse and Lehigh. Can anyone offer me any advice? Is it normal for schools to go through PhD applications before going through those for the MA?
Francophile1 Posted February 25, 2015 Posted February 25, 2015 YES it is quiet ok . DO NOT panic! Schools often do the PhD acceptances first. You can expect to hear anytime from now till April. You have to wait it out.
cjmullis Posted February 25, 2015 Posted February 25, 2015 MA applications take longer for a variety of reasons. It could be that they had later application due dates than PhDs (I'm not sure about the programs to which you've applied), they decide how many MAs to accept based on how many PhDs they accept, or a number of other reasons. If you're really worrying, it may help to look back at previous years in the results search and see when MAs received acceptances in the past. Good luck!
emily.rose Posted February 25, 2015 Posted February 25, 2015 I applied to 5 MA programs as well and have only heard from one. Even those applications that were due in early January have been silent, so I think it's normal. I wouldn't worry!
drownsoda Posted February 25, 2015 Posted February 25, 2015 It's normal, I think. I applied to MA programs as well, and am still waiting on responses. I got accepted at Fordham University on February 19th, which was rather early I thought (the application deadline was January 7th). Correct me if I'm wrong, but PhD applications are typically reviewed first I believe.
Bookwormz Posted February 25, 2015 Author Posted February 25, 2015 Thank you all for your responses. I graduated undergrad a few years ago and began to think about the English MA only in the past couple years, so I've just been trying to figure this whole process out as I go along. It has certainly been a rollercoaster ride.
