researcherwannabe Posted March 4, 2015 Posted March 4, 2015 Since I have been offered a TA position at University A, my offer letter has a paragraph that seeks my consent for a HireRight (third party contractor) background check. It says criminal background check but looking at HireRight's website, I know they may also verify your degrees, employment history, etc. I do not have anything to worry about. However, I did have a minor discipline issue at one of the colleges that I attended. I was briefly suspended for it. It involved a hanging out with my girlfriend late at night in campus. Things like that are frowned upon in India (where I am from), and they made it a discipline case. However, it was resolved and at the end I was given a 'good' character certificate by the university. I do not know if this previous college of mine has the incident of record and so when asked by University A in my application that have I ever been suspended from an institution, I marked 'no'. Like I said, this previous college where the incident took place gave me an official 'good character' certificate. Has anyone here gone through a HireRight background search at their university. Do I have anything to worry about because of that brief suspension?
