I have not heard back from them yet. Does it imply rejection? Also I submitted my application at Jan 29th. Don't know if that makes any difference for interview priority.

Really hope they can at least give me a chance to do a interview with them...

I haven't head back from them either. I applied on 10th February... hope I wasn't too late.

the deadline for  the program was 6th Jan(priority), so I gues those guys are being contacted first, then you. Does anyone have an idea about the time diff between priority and nonpriority admits

Me too just had the interview with them recently. I submitted the application on 7th feb.

It seems that they are interviewing lot of people~ does anybody know how many students they admit per year?

I am still able to upload and edit my application. I have noticed this just now though I submitted it on Jan 6th. Any idea what this means?

The website lists approximately 15 current students, so I guess thats how many they accept

Oh man. That could not be possible. The website usually only show those students who are involved in student affair or something else. I have already known some students who are in this program but not in that list.

Based on some data online and some other evidences, I think they will probably accept around 40-50 students for this program, which is normal in many other graduate program.

Also, when I was signing up for my interview, i saw the interviewer has 13 interviews in two days. So we can assume that they will probably interview around 30-40 students each week. It is not practical for the admission office to assign interviews to a certain interviewer every day. So they must have several students doing interviews for us in different days. Also they need to process further review after interviews, so I think this number should be realistic.

So by now the interview has been going on for almost 3 weeks by the end of this week, then we can assume that at most 120 students will be interviewed by this Friday. I think this number is more realistic. Then around half of them or more may be accepted. I guess the total number of applicants for this program is around 400-500 all around the world, including those who cant actually make their application complete, those who apply this for fun, those who dont give a s*** on this, those who can barely make it. Eventually, there should be around 250 or less applicants are basically qualified for further review.

Here is a link about the acceptance rate  in this department:

http://www.petersons.com/graduate-schools/columbia-university-fu-foundation-school-of-engineering-and-applied-science-department-of-industrial-engineering-and-operations-000_10014694.aspx

I am not quite sure about the information in this link. But i think generally this information is valuable.

BTW, I submitted my application on Jan 6th, but my application hasnt been completed until Feb 8th, when I got my GRE score. I had the interview with them yesterday.

I am assuming the first round decision will be made next week. Some could possibly be made by Friday, according to the admission results from last year.

Good luck to all of you guys.

Nice conclusions, Bill.

I guess we'll have to wait for the first round of acceptances/rejections. The tracker lists some acceptances before this date on previous years so hopefully they shouldnt take much longer

Fingers crossed for me and everyone else here

When are they going to post the results?

On the website it states "latest by third week of march". I assume that's the 22nd march.

What do you think guys?

Btw, has anyone been admitted?

looking at quantnet tracker, many of MFE applicants who got intervewed and rejected were redirected to MSOR program.

will that be the case for MS&E also? we'll see it within next week :D

I dont think we'll hear much soon given that it is springbreak week for them

True. They haven't replied to my emails since last Thursday. Usually they reply to my email within 3 days. I think they are actually using students to handle the applications, since it's abvious that the students are taking the spring break now. Next week should be the first week when decisions come out.

That sucks... March 23rd as the soonest is insane considering our April 15th deadline. Some programs even suggest earlier deadlines to assign mentors and such but I guess that wont be my case

i saw a guy in the other forum has already received admission offer today. any of you guys receive it also?

Guys. Check this out:

There is one guy getting admission this afternoon. He get interviewed very early,  around March 5th.

Decisions are coming out  these days !

BTW, how is everyone's interview?

I think I had a pretty happy time talking with the interviewer. The interview lasted over 20 minutes.

We talked about quiet a few questions: Tell some more about you? Why you think you are a good fit? What taught you the most in your life? Whats the biggest adjustment in your life? How you fund the education ?

Have you done any case studies?(She just wanna make sure. She didnt ask any technical questions.) What do you want to do after graduation?

I also asked about 4 questions:        How is the course "operational consulting"? How is the campus life during the graduate study? Are there many opportunities for consulting jobs? Do you have a supervisor in this program?

At last, because I mentioned I read some papers from professors, she asked "which professor is your favorite?"
