WinstonL Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 Hi there, I just finished my Master's Degree (outside the U.S.) and I'm considering applying to a PhD program in Computer Science/Bioinformatics in an American university. I have good research experience (been involved with Bioinformatics in one way or another since my undergrad years), 3 published papers (2 as the first author) and a another one to be published soon (first author in this one as well), and a poster presentation in a international Bioinformatics conference. As for recommendation letters, I'd probably could get some good ones from professors I worked with, but I'm not sure how much that would help, since none of them worked in American institutions and probably nobody there would have heard of them. Some of the programs I'm considering applying to: - U. of Michigan - U. of Chicago - Duke - WashU - NYU So how would you guys evaluate my shots?
