psychicas Posted March 7, 2015 Posted March 7, 2015 I recieved a generic email, saying click the link (i figured it was a rejection) but then it turned out to be an acceptance. Since then I have yet to hear from the PI or the program to give more details. Has anyone else had this experience?

LebaneseKafta Posted March 7, 2015 Posted March 7, 2015 This is okay, sometimes the people who update the online system do it before and stuff before the PI gets around to contacting you personally etc. this happened to me as well for one of the school I was sent an email saying congrats blah blah in the middle of the night and then a few days later PI called me and received personal email from dept. head like a week later so I wouldn't worry.
TXInstrument11 Posted March 8, 2015 Posted March 8, 2015 (edited) I wouldn't worry too much about it, as it differs from school to school. For UIUC, my POI contacted me a full three weeks before my official acceptance and before anyone else heard back. For FSU Criminology, I got my official acceptance via email about two weeks ago and have yet to receive any word from my POI. Edited March 8, 2015 by TXInstrument11
Sword_Saint Posted March 15, 2015 Posted March 15, 2015 Pretty much what everyone else has said, specifically that every school is dramatically different. My formal correspondence with one school at their Graduate College was that I would have to competitively apply for funding and none could be awarded without going through the proper channels and whatnot; I spoke with the admissions folks of the department informally however and they quickly and readily told me they would reserve a graduate assistantship spot for me should I accept to attend their institution. It really, really all varies.
