naus Posted March 11, 2015 Posted March 11, 2015 Hey everyone, I have applied for admission to UoT's MASc program in the ECE department. I am an international applicant and as of now I haven't heard anything from the grad office apart from a generic housing email with instructions to activate my utorid and select a residency. No PoIs have made contact either. So whenever anxiety kicks in, I check my email inbox but to no avail. Anyone accepted or being interviewed or contacted by a PoI?
BeeTife Posted April 2, 2015 Posted April 2, 2015 I also applied to U of T. A different department though - Chemical Engineering. I also haven't heard anything. I read somewhere that their engineering admission process takes a while. I'm also as anxious as you are. Have you tried calling your department?
naus Posted April 7, 2015 Author Posted April 7, 2015 Contacted the grad office. Ah well no professor seems to be interested in my application as of now. Still have time till the mid of June else its a rejection.
naus Posted April 10, 2015 Author Posted April 10, 2015 Yes. They don't bother replying. What about you? did you contact the grad office and professors?
BeeTife Posted April 11, 2015 Posted April 11, 2015 Yeah I did. One professor said she would look at my application so I was kinda banking on that. But then she stopped replying my mails. I called the grad office on Thursday and was told no one has shown interest in my application. I called the professor to confirm and she said she has already recruited the students she wanted. Quite disappointing. I then proceeded to call virtually every professor with a close research interest to mine. A lot of them are done recruiting. Those that still have positions available are not keen on taking international students because of the extra cost. At this point, I think U of T is over for me. I'm now banking on Guelph and Mcgill. I would advice that you call your profs. I just realised emails are a waste of time. 90% of those I called picked up. And they were quite polite and nice. Try calling as many profs as you can. You might get lucky. All the best!
