zzsteven Posted March 15, 2015 Posted March 15, 2015 Materials Science and Engineering PhD. My research interest lies in metallic systems. I got an invitation to join a project collaborating with a national lab from a professor at EPFL first. Then I got another letter from a professor at OSU to discuss with my prospectus study in his group. Both projects are appealing to me at this moment. Any thought or suggestion, guys ?
plutodog Posted April 2, 2015 Posted April 2, 2015 I suggest that you can consider your career goal seriously. Even if the two universities have the same reputations, European universities tend to hire professors with us degree or background. Also the phd in Europe is more industry related, also consider the high salaries and agreeable living environment in Switzerland. To sum up, to be a faculty, choose US, to enjoy life and earn a degree by the way, choose EPFL Marst 1
cs_phd Posted April 2, 2015 Posted April 2, 2015 I don't about MSE but atleast in CS, EPFL is top 10-15 uni in the world and far better than OSU. If the difference is same for MSE, then I would choose EPFL. EPFL program is similar to that in US and most profs are from US.
laoliu102 Posted April 2, 2015 Posted April 2, 2015 Choose EPFL if they are offering you enough funding!
