I just confirmed my decision today and will be joining CMU in the Psychology Department and Center for Neural Basis of Cognition, so I just thought it'd be great to connect with people.

Have you figured out your living situation? I just secured housing through the university, the "New Housing Option" for grads. It's basically an apartment with 2 other grad students through the university, the lease is only by semester, and all the utilities are covered. Definitely simplified everything.

Oh that sounds awesome! I haven't looked at housing yet. How much is the rent, if you don't mind me asking?

You can find out more info here. It's by semester and charged directed to your student account. It's around $4,500, which includes August-December of rent and utilities. I'm mostly interested in it because I'll be leaving for the summer and don't want to worry about subletting.

Thanks CW01 for starting the topic. I've just accepted CMU's offer to be one of the six new MFAs this Fall. Will start looking into housing, and it would be great to house share with another CMU grad(s).
