Douracell Posted August 24, 2009 Posted August 24, 2009 Hello all, many of you have read my post but nobody replied so far . I really need you to help me out with that. :x Below is my original post. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hi everybody, I am new on this forum and I find the posts very interesting. I am an international professional (originally from Africa) and have been living in France for the last 3 years. I have quite an extensive international experience (speak 3 languages, lived in several different countries...) I have been working in banking for the last three years. I intend to apply for a public policy program and i d like to apply to HKS, JHU and SIPA. However, I think that my GRE score isn't high enough: V 550, Q 690. Do u think that I should retake it? Thx for your advice.
wooldogg Posted August 24, 2009 Posted August 24, 2009 Tough call. You'd definitely be more competitive boosting the quant above 700, especially given that your background is in banking. But don't get a lower score the second time around. Did you study for it the first time?
Douracell Posted August 25, 2009 Author Posted August 25, 2009 Thx for your reply. Yes I did studied. But it was the 3rd time that I passed it. I scored Q670 the first 2 times and V480 and V450. I think retrospectively that I was too precipitated and that I should have waited. I read lots of people are scared to pass it several times. However, GRE test takers can take it 5 times in a year. Therefore, I think that I should seize my chance again bc I am sure to score higher that Q700. What's your view on that?
wooldogg Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 I'd be careful about taking it again. Quant scores between 670-690 on 3 scores is a pretty good indication that that is your true aptitude. Also, you already boosted your verbal, which is important, and you don't want that to fall below 500 just for 20-30 more points on the quant. Good luck.
