CMU MSIN vs. Gatech MS CS

Hey guys!

 

I was admitted to CMU MSIN and Gatech MS CS. It is diffuicut for me to make the decision.

 

Although CMU has better reputation and higher ranking, the tuition is much more higher than Gatech (the difference is about $40000). What's more, it would take 2 years to get the degree (1.5 years for Gatech).

 

Is it worth spending more money and time to get the bigger brand name?

 

After graduation, I want to be a software engineer in high tech companies in silicon valley. I heared that Gatech alumni are fewer than CMU's in silicon valley. If I go to Gatech, will I get less job opportunities and lower salary?

GaTech is a top-10 university for CS. All of them get placed in reputed companies. Your fears are misplaced.
