Question about SOP and application

hi,

going to apply for phd programs this fall. is it generally a good sign when a potential advisor at a university you are applying to wants to work with you in crafting your personal statement prior to applying to their department?

No, they're probably just trying to deliberately sabotage your SOP to keep you from getting in.

It is a good sign, but don't allow yourself to jump to conclusions. We did have some folks in a similar circumstance who did not get in, despite a lot of encouragement from a particular professor
