aschwartz92 Posted April 25, 2015 Posted April 25, 2015 Hey guys, I am planning on pursuing a PhD in cinema studies, and am hoping to attend NYU (since I would rather not leave NYC). I'm going to be applying next year (Dec. 2016), and I was just wondering what you all think my chances would be based on my GRE scores. I'm trying to figure out if I should take it again or not. I have Q154 V159 AWA 4.0. I don't know how much emphasis Tisch places on the GRE. I have a great GPA (summa cum laude, phi beta kappa) and an undergrad honors thesis and a handful of papers that I presented at conferences. I also have a great writing sample and great recommendations. I'm pretty terrible at standardized tests, so I'm hoping that my other work will outweigh my not-so-fantastic GRE scores. So, I'm trying to get one (or more) of papers published this year before I apply, and would rather focus solely on that as opposed to studying more for the GRE. Does anyone know what scores Tisch might be looking for (they refuse to say), and do you think that my scores are decent enough, coupled with the rest of my app, to get me in? Thanks for the help!
