anclave93 Posted May 8, 2015 Posted May 8, 2015 I have to decide between these two programs: Duke MA Economics Columbia MA Statistics I happen to be indifferent location and tuitionwise. So, please advise from the perspective of 1) job placement; 2) possibility of acceptance to a decent Phd Economics. Thanks in advance
eeee1923 Posted May 8, 2015 Posted May 8, 2015 They're both pretty strong programs. How are you defining 'decent' Econ PhD? Also what kinds of jobs are you interested in?
anclave93 Posted May 8, 2015 Author Posted May 8, 2015 eteshoe, thank you for response. By this epithet I mean a top 10-15 PhD program. But, apparently, for a start upon graduation I'm planning to seek employment, preferably in ibanking.

They recruit out of undergrad and out of MBA programs. There are exceptions, but they are rare, and due entirely to the networking of exceptional candidates. For that reason, given your plans, you should go to Columbia as it will give you the best chance to network with bankers. And to be clear, you will need to network your ass off.
