downtownchick Posted September 19, 2009 Posted September 19, 2009 Could anybody suggest a good ranking table of Comp Lit PhDs? I'd like to include some "safe schools" and am quite lost. I don't know any of them. I have just seen this site and feel totally late to the party. How do I find programs that are in the bottom :?: I have some strong, some week parts in my applications and am as desperate to quit my job and go back to school next year as I'll even go to the small public university near my house for just an MA in English (no money of course) if I find nothing. I have left school for ten years and must put a stop to wasting my time and go back to finish my business. My specialization is trauma. I can live without stipend if the school is near a big city (maybe send the boyfriend to work and pay rent). Please help me. Thank you in advance!
BiteMeLawSchool Posted October 7, 2009 Posted October 7, 2009 I hear ya. I didn't apply to some of these schools and applied to some others, but here's what my research "hinted" at as safeties: Old Dominion (It's in VA. I had to check!) Bowling Green State (OH) - not quite a safety, but close Texas Tech (TX) - has online program, they will take you if you can pay Indiana U. of PA (PA)-mostly online, probably the least selective school I've heard about I think anything that has an online program takes more people and gives out far fewer funded spots, but if it's your dream, take out the loans and do it. Your state school(s) should give you preferential admission as an in-state candidate, unless it's an extremely competitive program. One consideration might be to take a course at a realistic school close to you for non-degree credit. Make them like you. Then make them take you!
