speechjen Posted September 22, 2009 Posted September 22, 2009 I am an undergraduate student majoring in communicative disorders hoping to pursue a career as a speech and language pathologist. So being a first generation college student I had no idea what the GRE was in the first place. Now that I realize most of the programs I will be applying to require a GRE score can someone please help me in explaining what I can do to prepare for it? and hoe many times am I allowed to take it until I am satisfied with my score?
socialcomm Posted September 22, 2009 Posted September 22, 2009 Check out the website www.ets.org. You'll find most of your answers there. Just remember if you do take the test again, the schools will get all the scores you've gotten in the past 5 years.
misterpat Posted September 24, 2009 Posted September 24, 2009 Buy a book. Study hard. Take a lot of practice tests. Develop good habits in your non-GRE existence (e.g. looking up a word you encounter that you don't know). You can take it as many times as you please, albeit only once per calendar month. Your highest score is usually the score taken into consideration by departments. However, if you take the test twelve times, you will look annoying and neurotic (not to mention not very bright) and may give faculty members second thoughts about inviting you to hang around them for the better half of a decade.
