WatsonDa Posted August 24, 2015 Posted August 24, 2015 Hey all,I am applying for PhD (fall 2016) in Computer Vision and I was wondering if I could get an admit from the top-5 schools ( Stanford / UC Berkley / CMU / MIT / UIUC). Profile :Undergraduate from IIT ( top-school in India), GPA : 8.96/10 [ I am in the top 10% of my class, 80 students], GRE : [not given, but expecting around 325-330]Strong Research Experience :Couple of research internships in Computer Vision [ one of which was at ETH-Zurich under one of the most cited profs in the field] My BTP is also on CV, some side-projects in NLP/AI.Research papers at good venues, [ not CVPR/ICCV/ECCV though] and a couple of papers will be under submission when I m applying.Assume strong recos. My GPA is a bit low but then the grading is different at different places and I dont think it would be very accurate if you linearly convert it to [0-4] scale. But I guess this is what would hurt my chances. I have top grades in CS courses and I have some poor grades in few EE course ( none related to the field I am applying for though).Do you think my research experience can compensate for my GPA? What else can I do to improve my chances?[ I can try to improve my GRE score to 330+, if necessary but I guess it wont matter much for PhD.]
