International Student - Low GPA - Epidemiology/Public Health Master's

My current GPA is unspeakably and shamefully low but by the end of this semester it'll probably be 2.5-2.6 (Still very low, I know). I'm considering to apply in spring 2016 for fall 2016 or spring 2017 depending on the school I'll apply to. Do you think I should wait until I graduate and have a higher GPA (2.8-2.9)? The schools I have in mind vary but they're primarily located around the East Coast. I have done compulsory (unpaid) internship that the program I'm currently enrolled to required (Nutrition and Dietetics) and I still have 2 separate semesters of internships and they make 960h in total that which I'm not entirely sure whether or not has any influence on universities preferences.

I'd like to know your professional opinions on this. Thanks in advance!
