Career Rut: Way out through Masters Degree ?

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

I have a 3-year BS in Molecular & Cell Bio. But ever since graduating about 7 years ago, I have been languishing in sales type jobs, mostly in laboratory equipment & medical devices industries.

So now I am thinking of a career switch to get out of this rut, as I know I am more suited to a technical/creative role. I am attracted to a career in Biomedical Engineering (due to my interest in Medicine) , Environmental Engineering (keen desire to solve pressing global environmental problems) & Bioinformatics.

I did check with McGill on their MS in Biomedical Engineering, they said I need to complete a Qualifying Program somewhere else, as I lack the Math pre-requisites for the MS. I think most places will require me to do a bridging year (or postgrad dip) before i get into a Masters program due to my 3-year Bachelor's degree.

If anyone could recommend me schools & programs which are somewhat in line for what I'm looking for, I'd really appreciate it. Feel free to suggest other courses which you think would suit me.

I'm looking mostly at schools in North America, UK, Australia/NZ, but other parts of Europe (moderately English-friendly) like Netherlands/Germany would be cool too.

Thanks!
