So, I currently am completing a dual MA in both Islamic Studies as well as Religion & Conflict at Rutgers University. My focus in terms of study is on Islam, and no not theological Islam, more or less on Islamism, Islamic political thought, sectarianism, and extremism/fundamentalism (the stuff you see on the news). I will some time next year be applying to PhD programs and am in need of advice as to where I should apply to?

In my field I see an overlap between religious studies, history, political science, etc. Therefore I feel that I can apply to a variance of programs, differing in specialty, however I am clueless as to which programs I should look into. Can someone please help me with this? Much thanks!
