Film Studies PhD

Dear All,

I wanted to thank you all for your help so far. I have been a long time lurker and I have found your comments/suggestions very helpful. I recently (a month ago) graduated from my Masters in Film Studies from the University of St Andrews and previously I have a First Class Honours degree in English Lit from University of Sheffield. Last year I applied to a couple of programs in the US for PhD's, was unsuccessful, but was offered Masters places. I turned these down to attend St Andrews and I wanted to ask anyone with this experience if it would be a good/bad idea to re-apply to these same places that I turned down last year?
