Can mechanism design theory be used as a problem solving method for non-econ fields?I don't have a background in economics and im beginning to study mechanism design theory for my graduate thesis in design thinking. As far as I understand, MDT takes the problem and the end result as given, and tries to find the optimum dominant strategy to get to that end result. Design problems are the same. You are presented with a problem and the desired end result. A designer's job is to find a way to get there. My question is, can this be applied to complex design problems? Am I onto something here or did I get this whole thing wrong and I am about to waste my time?
