JJH Posted February 15, 2007 Posted February 15, 2007 Where has everyone been accepted? Ohio St. and Wisconsin for me (American politics). Anxiously awaiting a number of others.
Harry99 Posted February 21, 2007 Posted February 21, 2007 Well...i heard that Yale already made desicions...does anybody know about that...
lindsayk Posted February 22, 2007 Posted February 22, 2007 Chicago released their admits, Yale sent a bunch of their rejections two weeks ago. I'm into Chicago and UVa, not Yale. Waiting on three others. Anyone heard from Harvard, Princeton or Toronto?

Harry99 Posted February 23, 2007 Posted February 23, 2007 No word from Princeton and Harvard......i saw that Yale keep rejecting people yesterday
lindsayk Posted February 23, 2007 Posted February 23, 2007 I guess thats good news, but dammit! Enough with the waiting! What sub-fields are you guys applying for?
nrsa11 Posted February 23, 2007 Posted February 23, 2007 Has anyone heard from WUSTL, MIT or Minnesota? I have heard that WUSTL has made some decisions, but it doesn't look like many people have posted results from them.
Harry99 Posted February 23, 2007 Posted February 23, 2007 comparative politics Does Yale does it in chunks? HAve no hear a word from yale however i know the made a desicions....anyone knows something
lindsayk Posted February 23, 2007 Posted February 23, 2007 Not sure about those schools, the only others I know of that have released all/decent amount their admits/rejects are Northwestern, Boston College, and Cambridge.
boo3900 Posted February 24, 2007 Posted February 24, 2007 I received acceptances from UVA, Wisc, and Irvine. Rejected from Yale a while back. Lindsayk, I noticed you got into UVA. What is your subfield? Mine is theory.
JJH Posted February 25, 2007 Author Posted February 25, 2007 Found out I was accepted at UNC-Chapel Hill last week. Still waiting on Michigan, Princeton, Minnesota, and WUSTL.
lindsayk Posted February 26, 2007 Posted February 26, 2007 I'm theory also. Are you modern or ancient? Do you know when UVa is planning on releasing their financial aid or having their admit weekend?
boo3900 Posted February 26, 2007 Posted February 26, 2007 Hi Lindsayk, My emphasis will be on Modern. What about you? UVA admit day is in late March (30-31). I received my funding package from UVA, but I also know that they continue to make financial aid decisions until early March, so you should hear soon. Congrats on your other admit (Chicago). You must have been a really impressive candidate! I also applied there but I don't think I was accepted since some people have already heard.and I have not Oh well, I will just wait for my rejection in the mail. Congrats to all others who received acceptances! And good luck to those who are still waiting!
lindsayk Posted February 26, 2007 Posted February 26, 2007 My thesis was on Arendt, but my focus for grad (or at least the start of it) will be ancient pol thought. March 30-31 is Chicago's admit weekend too, so I don't think I'll be attending UVa's (especially since they haven't gotten back to me on funding...and Chicago has). Are there any schools you're still waiting on? Best of luck!
chrisr2750 Posted February 26, 2007 Posted February 26, 2007 I was also admitted to UVA with no initial mention of funding either way in the letter. I emailed the chair, and he said this meant I missed the first round of funding, but that there is always a 2nd round of offers sent out, based on who turns down the first round (the way he phrased it did sound optimistic about my chances) and he would be in touch about the issue. So yea if you have no interest in UVA, please tell them. Also, has anyone heard anything from upenn?
Harry99 Posted February 26, 2007 Posted February 26, 2007 I have not heard a word from Yale.......Anyone in the same situation?.......I am looking the results place......many rejections and acceptance....should i expect a rejection?
boo3900 Posted February 28, 2007 Posted February 28, 2007 Hey JJH, Congrats on your acceptances! Will you be at the Wisconsin admit weekend? Also, I applied to Minn. I wonder why they are taking so long. Last year, they had already notified admits and rejects around the third week of Feb.
JJH Posted February 28, 2007 Author Posted February 28, 2007 Hey JJH, Congrats on your acceptances! Will you be at the Wisconsin admit weekend? Also, I applied to Minn. I wonder why they are taking so long. Last year, they had already notified admits and rejects around the third week of Feb. Thanks, and congrats to you as well. As of now I do not plan to go to the UW weekend. I am not sure what Minnesota's deal is either. I feel like we would have heard by now has we gotten in.
JJH Posted February 28, 2007 Author Posted February 28, 2007 Got an acceptance e-mail from Minnesota today.
nrsa11 Posted February 28, 2007 Posted February 28, 2007 Congrats JJH, I also just got accepted to Minnesota. I noticed that you were also accepted to OSU and Wisconsin for American politics (as was I). Do you have any preferences at this point? I'm still waiting to hear from WUSTL, although I am skeptical about my chances there since I didn't get into Yale. I am not sure that I will visit Minnesota, and am probably learning toward Wisconsin at this point.
JJH Posted February 28, 2007 Author Posted February 28, 2007 Thanks, and congrats to you! I am a current Big Ten undergrad, so I did apply to many other Big Tens. However, I am probably going to head out to Chapel Hill. I got a great offer from UNC. Still waiting to hear from Michigan, Princeton, and WUSTL.
nrsa11 Posted February 28, 2007 Posted February 28, 2007 It's certainly hard to turn down a good funding offer. Good luck in waiting to hear from the rest of your schools. Hopefully we'll get the rest of the news in the next week or two!
fp00 Posted March 3, 2007 Posted March 3, 2007 just curious if anybody here applied to and has heard back from MIT. i've only seen one acceptance on gradcafe, and that was apparently a phone call...they usually send admits via DHL mail.
JJH Posted March 5, 2007 Author Posted March 5, 2007 I got rejected by WUSTL and Michigan over the weekend.
Highlife Posted March 5, 2007 Posted March 5, 2007 Hey everyone, I got rejected by JHU, Chicago, Cornell, WUSTL, NYU and Princeton. Now I have to decide whether to go to Harvard or Yale. I feel pretty happy, and am glad I don't have to reject the other places....
