Has anyone been able to figure out if you should include your study abroad work on your undergrad transcript or as a foreign institution?

The FAQ section on CSDCAS says:

"Did you study at any of the schools on our Overseas U.S. Institutions List?  Report the school from the list and list your coursework under the Overseas school and during the transcript review process you would mark these courses as “Study Abroad.” A transcript sent to CSDCAS directly from the Overseas U.S. Institution is REQUIRED."

AND...

"If your FULL CREDITS AND GRADES for these courses appear on your undergraduate transcript, then you should list these courses normally with the rest of your undergraduate work. During the transcript review process you would mark these courses as “Study Abroad.” No additional documentation is necessary. Do NOT report your study abroad school as a foreign institution."

Um.... what if BOTH apply?  Do I count it as a separate school or not?!?

I asked CSDCAS customer service... they said:

"You would need to report John Cabot U. and have that transcript mailed to CSDCAS. You would also need to list "Fulbright Col of Arts & Sci" as a foreign institution. You would not be able to report those courses in your application because they're appearing as "foreign," and we would not accept a foreign transcript for this school."

Well, that doesn't make sense because Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences was the "college" for my major at the University of Arkansas.  That's not "foreign."  You know, like a health, education, or business school (basically department).  Has anyone else had trouble with the CSDCAS customer service not having a clue what they are talking about and advising people to do??

So, I ordered the $30 transcript from Italy that will probably never arrive because none of the postcards I sent ever did! I still don't know if this is right though.

All of the coursework is listed on your regular undergrad transcript, right? I'd try to call CSDCAS again and hope to speak to someone who knows what they're talking about, but if that doesn't work it sounds like you can just use your regular transcript as it's all included there. Maybe??

Ok, so I thought I would update just in case anyone else runs across this issue.  They finally got back to me to clarify.  Yes, I had to submit my physical transcripts from my study abroad.  I sent in transcripts from all of the colleges attended to CSDCAS.

You're saying you studied at John Cabot? That's because John Cabot is one of those weird Overseas U.S. schools. For most foreign schools, slporbust2016 is right, but John Cabot is actually a U.S. school that happens to be in a foreign country. As far as CSDCAS is concerned, if you went to John Cabot it's no different than if you spent a semester in Iowa. The way those study abroad instructions work is "If not 1, then 2. If not 1 or 2, than 3." I think that's where your confusion was. Since you were Option 1, that trumps the rest.

Yeah, my undergrad had a campus overseas where I did my study abroad, so I just sent the transcripts from my undergrad institution.
