Edoardo
Hi all, I am applying for PhD programs in Operations Research and affine in the US. I am studying Mathematics and took the math subject test even if it wasn't required for most of the programs I intend to apply for. I got an 82% score. Do you think it could be a good score to submit even for the universities that don't require it or do I risk something like "Why are you submitting a <90% if you weren't asked either...?" Thank you all in advance for any help! Edoardo
svent
First off, 82% is awesome. Submit it. If they don't care, then big deal. If they do care, it could help you. If someone wondered why you were sending it unsolicited, the response is that you sent it along with your general GRE scores. For all they know, those are the only tests you ever took (no retakes, etc.) and you did send all instead of scoreselect. 90%+ is typically only attained by internationals (many of whom cheat -- share answers from test to test). There are a few Americans who get that score, but not many. 80%+ is good enough not to get you excluded from any Math Ph.D. program. Will only make you shine for more applied programs. neilsrn
