misappthrope Posted December 1, 2015 Posted December 1, 2015 Is an official transcript still official after it has been opened, scanned, and uploaded, but reads "void" upon scanning?
Neuro PolarBear Posted December 1, 2015 Posted December 1, 2015 For the programs that ask you to upload a copy of your transcript, yes. Many have heat-sensitive ink and other features that they understand will not be retained in the digital copy.
Edotdl Posted December 1, 2015 Posted December 1, 2015 Technically it's not an official transcript. However, for schools that ask for transcripts to be submitted online they are usually looking for a scan of an official transcript versus say an unofficial copy downloaded from the website. fencergirl 1
brown_eyed_girl Posted December 2, 2015 Posted December 2, 2015 From my understanding, no, it is not still official after you've opened it, which means that you can't reseal it in an envelope and send it in to a school after scanning it - it is only considered "official" when sent directly by your school to verify that it hasn't been tampered with. However, like Edotdl says, if you're submitting your transcripts in the app as PDFs then your opened and scanned "official" copy is perfect. You can always call the schools you are applying to if there's confusion.
