ABCABCABC Posted December 20, 2015 Posted December 20, 2015 I am an international student applying for PhD in Economics and I am writing my SOP. Is there anyone can give me some advice about my draft? I will PM my draft to you if you are interested, and it will also be great if you want to exchange SOP. Thx!
SOP Buddy Posted December 20, 2015 Posted December 20, 2015 Following points should be covered in a good SOP (not necessarily in the same order): 1. What are your research interests? You need to be much more focussed for PhD application. 2. Why do you find that topic interesting? What kindled your interest in that subject--influence of a good professor/book etc. What do you find in the subject interesting? 3. What efforts have you taken in that area? Your papers/projects etc. 4. Why are you applying to this particular university? The idea you want to convey here is that this particular university has some research groups/laboratories/professors whose research interests coincide with your research interests. 5. What are your future plans? The idea is to convey that you know what you want and why you want it and where you want to go. Moreover you have taken enough efforts so as to make yourself eligible to pursue studies in that field and the higher studies from that University will be a bridge between where you are and where you want to go.
