AngryRobot! Posted December 23, 2015 Posted December 23, 2015 Dear all, I applied two PhD programs in Weill Cornell Graduate School of Science this year, PBSB and Tri-CBM, and these are the only programs I have applied in NY. I have received interview invitation from PBSB. As a Chinese citizen I need a B1 visa for interview and may not make it for the original time of PBSB interview. On the other hand, I suspect interview time of Tri-CBM would be roughly one month after PBSB interview. It would be more convenient for me if all the interviews are fairly close. I am currently asking the PBSB program to rearrange my interview and wish I also know if I would have an interview from Tri-CBM or not. Anyway, according to Gradcafe result, interview invitation of Tri-CBM came Dec 23th last year, but mid-Jan the year before. I am wondering it is appropriate or necessary for me to ask the Tri-CBM program about my status and potential date of interview. How to set the Title of the email so they would not ignore it as they might do for emails like "Asking for application status..." Thank you all!
TakeruK Posted December 23, 2015 Posted December 23, 2015 I think this is a valid reason to ask about your status. Today is December 23, and most school offices in the US will close sometime after noon on Dec 24. They may be open for the days between Christmas and New Years but they also may not! My recommendation is to call Tri-CBM during working hours in the Eastern Standard Time zone and explain your situation. I am suggesting a phone call because email might be too slow---it might take more than one back-and-forth and also due to all of the other stuff going on in the last few days before the holiday, making a phone call will reduce the chance you will be ignored. Just my suggestion. AngryRobot! 1
