paydaygabe Posted October 30, 2009 Posted October 30, 2009 Im looking for advice on how to write a letter of intent / statement of purpose. I am finding it really stressful because I know it needs to be awesome. For those of you that have gotten into MFA programs, if possible, could I -we- see examples of your statements? I think this would help a lot of people, including myself, out a ton!
andimags Posted November 4, 2009 Posted November 4, 2009 You can find several examples of statements of purpose/artist's statements in white columns or the irving sandler artist's file online, although they won't be the same structure as a regular SOP (that an MFA program is looking for) they will, however, have the basis of what you're looking for. Keep a notebook next to you while you make work. Take notes on things that go through your mind. Write write write, and don't be afraid to curse or make fart jokes. That's what taking notes is for: purging your mind puke before you can reconstitute it into filet mignon for your committee.
