GradSchoo Posted January 2, 2016 Posted January 2, 2016 For example, I've seen historically that people receive an invite from Yale around Dec 18th or so, and it happened again this year. Is it possible that there is one PI who typically sends out invites, but that others PI's may wait until later? Or do schools typically have a policy where all the PI's send out invites around the same time?
artsy16 Posted January 2, 2016 Posted January 2, 2016 (edited) Every school/program operates differently, and they don't publish specific timeline data for notifications. Some invites don't even come from POIs, but from program/clinical training directors and even department secretaries. I know what it's like to see people get invites from a school I applied to, yet I've heard nothing. Can't do much about it although it's agonizing. Edited January 2, 2016 by artsy16
wootar Posted January 2, 2016 Posted January 2, 2016 It really does depend based on school. I got interview invites from University of Georgia and IUPUI, which both came from a graduate admissions coordinator. I believe these were sent to all invitees at the same time. I got a mass rejection notice from Nebraska, which I believe were sent out to all applicants at the same time. Then for University of Iowa, I saw a few invites so assumed that I would not be receiving one. However, a couple of days ago I received an e-mail from my POI extending an invite. I think these were more spread out because the POIs were getting in touch rather than an admissions person. I would imagine there is a range of time (for example a two week window) in which the school expects POIs to get in touch. Like artsy16, I totally understand the feeling of seeing invites go out and not be on the list. This is my third year applying! Although the patience is agonizing, it usually does pay off. I hope you hear something soon!
