I go to the University of VA and have a 3.24 GPA with 157 V 158 Q, and 4.0 on my GRE. I want to apply to graduate schools for a masters in biostatistics, but am worried that my GPA is too low..

I'm applying to George Washington University (both MS and MPH biostatistics), Georgetown Univ, and VCU. I couldn't really find much information about their admitted students stats so am starting to really get anxious. Could I get some feedback?

Your GPA isn't bad man. It's not going to impress them, but it's certainly not bad either. GREs are decent too. Georgetown is def the hardest school on your list, and for them, you will be below the avg applicant and your chances are probably slim. Do you have research exp? That's a huge factor, possibly the most important factor.

For GWU I think you have a shot, and for VCU I think you have a strong shot because they're not very exclusive at all. I got accepted to VCU as an undergrad and my high school academics were fucking horrendous lol.

I'm in a different field, but I had 3.26 GPA 157V 162Q and 3.5 on my GRE and got a full funded masters. So you always have a chance due that it all depends on the total application of the individual and maybe some much needed luck involved too ;)

I had about almost 3.5 years of work experience in the oil and gas industry and (1.5 years) unrelated other engineering research semesters. Honestly from my aerospace applications it seemed like some professors liked the work experience and some people didn't like that I was out of school long (4years) in combination with my other stats (probably low GPA). I'm in my second semester of my masters, but I know now that my adviser choose me because of my resume and my project management experience. Currently building a difficult large experiment for him. During my last year fall applications I got a funding offer in Feb and my current funding offer in June along with multiple little scholarships here and there. To me there is a big factor of luck of the right professor looking hard at your application for the funding offers, but there is always a good chance to get funded later on during your masters as well (if you don't get the initial offers). Goodluck on your applications.
