Art Therapy, in general or specifics

Hi new to this, hoping this starts a new thread!?, or atleast gets me in touch with a few in the program.  

Looking for some guidance on applying for the masters program.  

What is the interview and art tasks like.  Did you keep your resume to bare bones or fairly detailed.  Any definite no no's?  Any info would be helpful, thanks.

Hi there! I'm applying for Art Therapy this fall as well! 

I can't speak yet as to how the interview process goes, but as for my resume, I definitely made it as detailed as possible. Since it was never specified that our resumes had to be brief, I included all my school, work and relevant experiences, as well as my awards and distinctions and art exhibitions (I'm an artist, my undergrad degree was in Painting). So you could say that I merged my professional and artistic resumes for my applications.

Oh, another question.  when they ask for a description of your individual pieces (portfolio), submitted, some are obvious, self portrait..., what about abstract.  Do you say what it is to you?  do you explain it's significance?  ...

I think that would depend on the context! I haven't been asked to give a description yet. My guess would be that they want to see how you can talk about your work objectively. An artist statement would be the place where you talk about its significance. 

Again, I'm just speculating, since I don't know the context! Good luck, southbound!

I'm so glad this exist! Feel like no one on here is applying to art therapy programs. 

I'm also very curious about the interview process. I'm having interviews in the next couple of weeks. Especially NYU because they also have the art workshop. And also what to wear? 

Any one have any ideas?Thanks!

I started this hoping to get some people from the art therapy program to respond, but I don't know if there is a thread that already exists...and i haven't/can't find it?  I also would like to understand the art workshop, just in terms of do they ask us to solve a problem, or draw and explain...?  I would go dressed casual professional.  Have you been yet SaiSa?
