crobertg Posted January 11, 2016 Posted January 11, 2016 Hello All, Without going into too much detail about my life story, I graduated 5 years ago with a BS in math, but have been doing accounting since then, while my wife finished her doctorate. Although I've done pretty well as an accountant, I'd always planned to return to school and shift back to applied math as soon as it was feasible for us. With my wife finishing up her dissertation, that time has come, and I'd like some advice on how to improve my profile. My undergrad GPA is not very good, and while my GRE scores are excellent, I know that alone won't make up for the GPA. Undergrad: UNC-Chapel Hill Degree: BS, Mathematics Undergrad GPA: 3.08 GRE(V/Q/AR): 170/170/5.5 Programming: Python, Matlab, Java Recommendations: Strong, but only one actually related to academics. Like I said, I know this isn't a strong profile, but what would be the best way to go about improving it? What kinds of programs can I realistically expect to get into? I was a pretty undisciplined student in undergrad, I've matured quite a bit as I built a career since then. I'm just not sure how to about demonstrating that to an admissions panel. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
