Should I ask what happened to my application?

Question

Posted (edited)

Hi everyone!

I applied to several master programs in Economics, one of which was Barcelona GSE (I aim to begin this fall).

I found out that many people got their admission answer this week, including some of my friends. Yet I still have not heard anything from them.

I submitted my application on 26 of November and my last referee sent his letter on the 15 December (Of course both were in 2015), whereas the initial application deadline was on 15 January. In the e-mail that I received after my application was completed the Barcelona GSE admission office told me that my result would come by the end of January, although on their website says that early admission results are due to the middle of February.

Thus, the question is should I call them or wait a little bit longer? I am getting really anxious since people that applied after me got their results, and I have not heard anything:(

Perhaps I did not get my results because I also applied to the Barcelona IDEA master in economics program, and got admitted but I still have not answered whether I will accept their offer. (This is because BGSE is my main and favourite option!)

I will be very grateful for any suggestions!

Juus

edit: I forgot to add that the IDEA program and BGSE have nearly identical faculty. In fact BGSE was a result of a collaboration between the Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona (where the IDEA program is conducted) and some other universities.

I don't see why not. You can just shoot them an email and ask them if they have any information about your application, since they told you that a decision should get to you by the end of January. It doesn't have to be a long email or anything, just mention that they gave you a time frame and you were just checking in on your application.
