marga_mae Posted February 18, 2016 Posted February 18, 2016 (edited) Hi, I wonder if any of you who applied to the MPA program at CIPA, Cornell, have received admission decisions from them. My application status has been shown to be "complete" since January 14 but I've heard nothing back so far. Also, according to their website, those who apply before the end of January should be notified of the decision by mid-February. I know it's only Feb 18 but can't help starting to worry a bit (you know, waiting is excruciating...hahaha) I checked the result page and have seen no updates regarding this program so far so I figure I should ask some of you here Thanks! Heidi <3 Posted March 2, 2016 Posted March 2, 2016 Hey, have you heard back yet from cipa? I applied and finished the online interview thing before 10th Jan, and still haven't heard anything from them yet.
jpfreeman Posted March 5, 2016 Posted March 5, 2016 Yes, I heard back around January 15th when I submitted my app just after New Year's. Best of luck guys!
marga_mae Posted March 5, 2016 Author Posted March 5, 2016 Hi! I finally heard from them on Thursday. Good news but no words on fundings yet. @jpfreeman, have they offered you any fellowship?
jpfreeman Posted March 6, 2016 Posted March 6, 2016 (edited) Hi! @marga_mae ahh congratulations! Yes, I received notification about funding a couple weeks ago (12,000 dollar per year fellowship). However, it was quite a few weeks between when I learned about my acceptance and when I heard about my funding Edited March 6, 2016 by jpfreeman
marga_mae Posted March 7, 2016 Author Posted March 7, 2016 Thank you, @jpfreeman! May I also ask if you emailed them to request for fellowship consideration or they just got back to you as part of the process? Sorry for asking so many questions. It's great to have someone in the same shoes to talk to
OpusMPA Posted March 8, 2016 Posted March 8, 2016 I recommend applying in the Spring when competition is low. Any school that has a high international : domestic student ratio bodes when for domestic students, especially in the Ivy League where students from abroad want to study. Before coming take stats and both intro econs again. Not because they transfer or taking them will make you more competitive, but because many classes require a current working understanding of them, even if it's just a few courses required by the major. 10,000K seems to be a low annual tuition scholarship but I can't confirm this. The amount you're given is negotiable if you have competing offers from comparative schools. The MPA is great, very flexible. About 115 students enter the MPA each year. Also look at Dyson School of Applied Management and the SLOAN schools (depending on your interest).

It was maybe 4 weeks after my acceptance email that I received an email with fellowship information.
betun Posted March 9, 2016 Posted March 9, 2016 Congratulations to everyone who made it. 5 hours ago, jpfreeman said: No problem! They just got back to me a part of the process. My fault of course as I finished my application with the interview only on 10th Feb. On 08/03/2016 at 10:43 AM, OpusMPA said: I recommend applying in the Spring when competition is low. So far I have received quite limited fellowship funding from the programs I have been accepted into.
