E&B Posted February 23, 2016 Posted February 23, 2016 (edited) So, I was offered next to zero money (other than a very small amount of work study) for 2 year program for next year. I really want to attend, but, thinking rationally, it doesn't seem worth it. Currently, I am in a significantly more competitive program (5-10% acceptance rate), on a full scholarship + stipend, and have near perfect grades. I don't necessarily feel *entitled* to a scholarship, but it hurts to think that all my hard work goes virtually unnoticed to a stingy university. Do you think it is possible to try to negotiate a scholarship without sounding like a selfish egotistical brat? Personally, I've never heard of someone getting a scholarship from begging. I've only heard of people negotiating a pre-existing scholarship to be larger. I can visit the university in person if need be. Edited February 23, 2016 by E&B
TakeruK Posted February 23, 2016 Posted February 23, 2016 You can do this without sounding like a terrible person. If it were me, I would politely let the school know that I appreciate the admission offer but that I cannot attend without more aid and then I would ask if anything else was available. If they say no, then oh well, I will just turn them down. But it doesn't hurt to ask.
