Where can I learn conversation analysis?

Hi everyone,

I am interested in learning the research method of conversation analysis. I am currently reading "the Handbook of Conversation Analysis" on my own. I hope to get trainings from people who actually apply this methodology in their own work. Does any one know where I can get such trainings in the US?

You'd find more CA folks in Europe, but there is an active CA working group at UCLA. 

A good place to start is the Ethnomethdology and CA section's website to see who is represented there (in awards, elected positions, etc.): http://www.asanet.org/sections/ethnomethodology.cfm

Find a Humanities Department with a linguist whose work aligns with your interests. Michigan Tech has a linguist named Victoria Bergvall that works with CA, CDA, and Communities of Practice.
